Equipment

At Statewide Leak Detect we use up to date equipment and technology to
locate all types of leaks and to locate in ground services

Acoustic Ground Microphones

A microphone that is used to listen to valves and pipes through the ground's surface.

Tracer Gas System

This is used to find micro leaks. Tracer gas is installed into the pipe system and above ground, a sniffer alarm is used to find escaping gas. This will work through pavers, bitumen, etc.

Compressed Air Boosting

We use this in conjunction with acoustic ground microphones to find minor leaks as air is louder than water when it escapes through the leaking pipe wall, which makes it quicker and more economical to find small leaks. This machine can also be used to locate poly pipe systems.

Thermal Imaging Camera

This is used to measure the temperature difference caused by a leaking pipe, blockage or even termites. It allows the camera to see into walls.

CCTV

This camera can be installed into a drainage system, pipe or cavity. The internals can then be filmed and watched in real time on the monitor or an iPhone. These images can be recorded onto a thumb drive and stored for future reference.

Pipe and Cable Locator

These are used to locate metallic pipes and cables. They can also be used to follow drain camera rods, locate a problem area, or map out drainage systems.

We also have a system to locate and map out PVC/POLY underground water mains.

Ground Penetrating Radar ( GPR )

GPR uses electromagnetic waves which fire into the ground and back to the unit. If an object is below with different dielectric properties, part of the signal is deflected back to the surface. They will give a depth to that object or ground condition difference. It can be used for non-metallic services, voids, water leak detection, locating lost manhole lids or valves and many other applications.

Internal Pipe Microphone

This microphone is sent into the leaking pipe but is carried out when the pipe work system is still under pressure or live thus not affecting customers water flow. Once the leak is acoustically heard the microphone can then be located using a cable locator which also locates water leak position.

Leak Noise Correlators

These are electronic devices used to locate leaks on pressurised pipes where the location is unknown and pipe distance is long.
Two or more sensors are placed in contact with the pipe on both sides of the leak.
Algorithms and known leak noises are then used to determine the leak location by distance from each correlator.

Water Leak Noise Loggers

These units are installed on valves , hydrants etc throughout the complete water network where they will continually monitor over a set period of time for known leak noises.
Once the monitoring time frame is complete the data from each logger can be downloaded and any leakage areas can then be correlated for exact leak locations.
